I thank you in advance for any > assistance you can provide. I see no need to edit the source code. Simply derive a new widget from GtkWindow, like GnomeApp (IIRC) in Glade... Or (easier) add a suitable container (a GtkVBox, for example) just inside the window, then stick there your widgets.
