ok ........ I know you are talking about pkg-config, but I am telling you the version of gtk which is 1.2.10. You have told me to try ; # gcc -Wall wind.c -o wind.o 'pkg-config --libs --cflags gtk+-2.0'
And my gtk is not 2.0. I think it should be clear now.
