Hi Andy, I had a look at your example but I don't even have a remote idea why Gtk behaves likes this. The more special an issue, the less likely that we will be able to be help you, sorry :-) . Your problem reminds me of very many ones a had in the past; you possibly cannot ovoid looking into the Gtk+ code(this is for sure not an issue of the .NET wrapper Gtk#) to get your answers.
You could try to send a mail to the Gtk+ mailing lists(see www.gtk.org) but I doubt that anyone will be able to comment on your problem there.
