I got aluminum rear and steel front, and a DID 530 X-ring from Sprocket
Specialists. Total cost was less than $200. The chain was gold, which
seems to be a nice touch.
You need a chain with 118 links in either 530 or 532.
Although I got a steel front from these guys, I would check with a Yamaha
dealer to see if a genuine Yama sprocket from a FZR1000 would fit. The yama
part on the GTS comes with some sort of ureathane/rubber outer coating that
is quite thick. The purpose of this rubber stuff appears to be
noise/vibration reduction, as you can definitly tell between a front with or
without this feature.
I am thinking of going back to see if I can find a Yama substitute that will
work, just to reduce the noise. Most people would not be bothered, but it
irritates me.
If you get a linkless chain, you will have to remove the swingarm. Or you
can get a riveted chain and do the rivets yourself, but you need the tool,
which I think is not cheap. I do not know if a cycle shop would normally
have a chain rivet tool, probably so. I used a master clip.

Steel Sunstar sprockets are inexpensive and perform flawlessly. I purchased
them at a great price from Kiernan Racing http://www.braincell.com/kiernan/
. I've used the DID Gold X-ring for years now without a problem. Get the
clip type masterlink and safetywire it, or get a rivet type masterlink. I
know a lot of guys get the aluminum sprockets, but I'll say it again. The
steel sprockets last longer and in terms of weight savings, putting aluminum
sprockets on a GTS is like throwing an oar off the Titanic! :^) Seriously
though, a clip-type with safety wire or a dap of RTV is perfectly secure.
