WD-40 is some of the stickiest stuff around.  I wouldn't use it for chain
"wash/lube" the way you do.  My understanding of the purpose of lubing any
O- or X-ring chain is really to get the dirt off so that it keeps the rings
from: 1) drying out, and 2) getting cut by the dirt on the chain and having
either the internal lube leak out or moisture get in and destroy the chain
from the inside.

do you mean by that?  Are they better or worse or something else?
