My inital problem turned out to be the fact i never aliased the ip,
adding lines to /etc/rc.conf:
ifconfig_em0_alias0="inet 192.168.0.101/32"
ifconfig_em0_alias1="inet 192.168.0.102/32"
fixed my problem, now, I've another query. I would like to do a clean
install of the 64bit 8.0 when it comes available, I've been running the
i386 OS on the machine for a cpl years, and am using 7.2. What I would
like to do is set up a 'backup' box if you will, I have this old 1.8 P4
laying around doing nothing, I'd like to set this box up as a mirror, if
you will, of my current setup which is 2 IRC servers, IRC related
services, Apache, Version Control, DB, etc etc. with each service it
it's own jail. Once this 'mirror' is up, with 8.0-RELEASE i386
installed, I'd take down the server, blow out the dust build up and
install the setup with 64 bit. That said, I'd like to just take
ezjail-admin archive feature to backup each services jail. My question
is, is it feasible to then extract the i386 jail archives on the new
64bit system and run ezjail-admin update, or would the arch differences
prevent this from working. (IE: rebuild each jail just using the working
configs from the 'mirror' environment, since I structure will all be the
same.) My idea here, aside from more hours of geek time to log, is to
prevent any downtime at all, with the mirror system, while the actual
server is redone, cleaned and moved. Man, it's good to have the BUG
back!! :)
