Looking for a True *Web / System Administrator* Location: Sterling, VA
Needed a *true web administrator that can trouble shoot* *APACHE, Tomcat *as well as look over *scripts*, see what wrong with it and rewrite them to make them better. The candidate will be responsible for 24 x 7 system administration to ensure maximum uptime, availability, and performance of all production Customer Care applications. The team administers production applications from inception through deployment and beyond, ensuring that operational issues are considered as early in the development cycle as possible. * Required Skills:* - Must have a strong background in *Windows System Administration*, system monitoring and system performance tuning. - Proven ability to bring stability to systems through attention to detail, creativity, and automated recovery procedures. - Experience building host file systems, installing operating systems and software packages for application deployment. - Experience implementing alarming and monitoring using scripting languages or other standardized applications. - Experience with *Linux, UNIX,* and *Solaris* is a plus. - Experience *installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Apache, Tomcat, Weblogic, and/or other web administration*. - Familiarity with *Netcool, Remedy, and Remote Access applications* is a plus. - Experience troubleshooting Intel and SUN hardware. - Experience installing customized software applications on *Windows* and *UNIX/Linux* platforms. - Strong troubleshooting abilities with focused motivation, and the ability to follow through. - Ability to multitask and prioritize issues is imperative. - Fast and versatile learner that adapts well to change. - Strong verbal and written communication skills to facilitate information exchange in a positive & professional manner with peers through formal documentation and e-mail. - Team player with professional work ethic, positive attitude, and good interpersonal skills. - Ability to work effectively under pressure. - Superior oral and written communication skills to interface with third party vendors, business owners, development, and QA groups. *Desired skills:* - Experience in a 24/7 production environment. - Experience working with remote team members. - Experience installing and maintaining third party applications. - Basic understanding of C and Java programming and the ability to build and install applications from source code on both Windows and Linux platforms. - Experience in SQL databases (MySQL, Sybase, or Oracle). - Experience with common network components and protocols such as: HTTP, DNS, SSH, Netscalers, and GSLBs *Education/Experience:* - A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred - Minimum of 6 years of system administration experience in a multi-server LAN or WAN environment (30 or more servers).
