Mas Item, DENVER -- Bernhard Langer and Robin Freeman each had a
6-under 66 Thursday that left them tied at the top after one round of
the Senior PGA Championship.
Langer has led the Champions Tour in earnings each of the last two
years and has two wins on the circuit this season. Freeman has not had
a victory on any tour in a dozen years.
Tom Lehman and Brad Bryant shared third place at 68. Lehman went
birdie-eagle-birdie beginning at the 15th, but bogeyed the final hole.

The event is being played at the Colorado Golf Club, a Ben
Crenshaw-designed course that opened three years ago in the foothills
of the Rocky Mountains.

Fred Couples, a three-time winner in his first year on the Champions
Tour, shot a 69 and was tied for fifth with Bill Glasson, Bill Loeffler
and Tom Kite. Defending champion Michael Allen shot a 71. Crenshaw
posted a 72.
