Ferguson 'shocked' as Rooney says he wants out of Man Utd

Posted: 19 Oct 2010 06:46 AM PDT

Sir Alex Ferguson admitted he was "shocked" and "disappointed" when
Wayne Rooney told him he wants to leave Manchester United.
The United boss revealed the news in an interview with MUTV filmed
before he spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon.

"We are as bemused as anyone can be, we can't quite understand why he
would want to leave," said Ferguson.

Speculation surrounding the 24-year-old striker's future has been rife
after reports suggested that the England forward did not want to sign a
new deal at Old Trafford.

"I was in the office on 14 August and David phoned me to say he
(Rooney) wasn't signing a contract," Ferguson added. "I was
dumbfounded. Only months before he was saying he was at the greatest
club in the world.

"I asked to have a meeting with the boy. He reiterated what his agent
said, that he wanted to go."

Rooney's current deal with United expires at the end of next season.

Red Bull will triumph in Korea, says Karun Chandhok

Posted: 19 Oct 2010 05:59 AM PDT

Red Bull are the favourites to win the Korean Grand Prix according
Karun Chandhok - the only Formula 1 driver to have experienced the
sport's new circuit.
Chandhok piloted a Red Bull show car in September's trial run at the
Yeongam circuit despite the final layer of asphalt not having been laid
on the track.

When asked about the upcoming Korean Grand Prix, Chandhok said: "It
will be closer than last weekend in Suzuka as it is not quite so
aero-dependent, but I still fancy Red Bull to win.

"I think Korea is another Red Bull circuit. They proved by the end of
Japan that they were a good half a second clear of the McLarens and
Ferraris.

"In two weeks that is impossible to catch up, regardless of how many
new parts you throw on a car."

McLaren have already revealed they will have even more new parts for
their MP4-25 at Yeongam as they continue to develop their 2010 car
despite taking new parts to Suzuka.

Chandhok does believe the circuit's three long straights will benefit
McLaren with their F-duct system but believes the majority of the track
will be suited to the Red Bull car.

"It does have three long straights, which will help McLaren, but from
turn four it's basically just left-handers all the way home and gets a
bit more fiddly-slow-speed, second-gear stuff, camber changes-which
will play more into Red Bull's hands.

"Fernando [Alonso] could hustle it up and get closer to them and
actually I fancy [Robert] Kubica to do well again in Korea. He is a
real street fighter and this kind of track will suit him.

"What could be interesting, though, is the start. Red Bull may well
lock out the front row and still not be leading by the time we reach T4
because of the straights in that first sector.

"That would make it very interesting. I know it is something that Mark
[Webber] is thinking about because he told me when he asked me what the
circuit was like."

Webber is leading the drivers' championship by 14 points over Alonso
and Sebastian Vettel as Formula 1 approaches the inaugural Korean Grand
Prix, while former world champion Lewis Hamilton is 28 points behind
with team-mate and reigning world champion Jenson Button a further
three points off the pace.
