OK. I think basically if you want a quick port to 1.9, you should make a module that shims 1.9 to have a more 1.4-like interface, and have all of your code use it. `return-it' can go there. Then you can adapt your code later, if you want, or keep using that shim if you want. Sounds reasonable. thi
