well, it is difficult to refuse volunteer help if it is kindly proposed :) On the other hand you already have a lot on your plate (astrophysical software, go team, python team at least), so please also look after yourself and do not plunge into a burn-out - but ultimately it is your choice. I notice there are two other persons on the R team (in cc), maybe they could take the lead in this initiative? Or if they are unable to contribute to the R packages in the foreseeable future, maybe they could leave the team? In a sense this would be unfortunate, but maybe better match reality, if a team that looks healthy on paper does not manage to update the packages under their umbrella when one of the team members takes a leave. And maybe other people interested in R could step forward and join the team and the update effort? Andreas
