Do you believe that this use "of genAI tends to demean human creativity, to discourage the learning and knowledge sharing processes"? And that this particular application "stifles individual autonomy at a fundamental level—replacing one’s ability to build up knowledge with a false sense of quick achievement, building up [cognitive debt—while also weakening communities and destroying labor power"? Or is it that these effects can only be seen in the aggregate?

i do, for one, and experts seem to agree, raising concerns about the impact of outsourcing your work to an LLM on mental skills, critical thinking among them.[0][1] I also recommend reading the articles listed at [2] if you think you sleep too well at night.

~30% of global carbon emissions come from the production of food but Guix still serves food at Guix Days.

do you propose we deprive ourselves of the fundamental human need of *eating food* just so we do not look like hypocrites because of rejecting use of electricity and water to make lives of people worse? with all due respect, this comparison sounds ridiculous to me.

I don't agree that "the leading commercial genAI services ... achieve a concentration of power over the lives of people rarely seen before". I see AI as a tool for remixing the world, decentralizing control. Surely governments and oligarchs would prefer exclusive access to these technologies.

output of LLMs has been shown to be heavily biased in favour of the companies who ‹own› the models; that is, not only is there external bias present in the training data (which, in itself, is exploitable by outside actors[3][4]), the companies themselves filter the data to present a view more favourable of them, their business, generative artificial intelligence, their political stances, et cetera.[5]

LLMs are a tool, yes, but so far it has not been shown to have beneficial uses, only those that impact everybody—not just the users—negatively.
