The long wait was finally over for the spicy pin busters from Goa playing for Indias Pride in Kuwait as they clinched the coveted title of the ACDC 2004 Winter Bowling Team Tournament in the just concluded double round robin championship series held at the KSSC bowling lanes. In lifting its first ever champions trophy, Indias Pride bowled with confidence in the second round of the championship despite the meager advantage it held over JRs Team after the first round.

Grabbing the 1st and 2nd runner up position were JRs Team and the Giant Killers as both teams failed to sustain the early high scoring pace set by the eventual winner.

After the first round of the finals, Indias Pride with 5801 was ahead by just 5 pin falls over JRs Team that posted a 5796 tally. Umoja was a far third at this point with 5450 followed by Cozmo Entertainment Center-5390, Giant Killers-5344 and Ashkanani Placement Agency that brought up the rear with 5232.

In the first game of the 6-game round, the front running Indias Pride went against its closest rival JRs Team. Spearheaded by the sizzling hot Nickolas Rodrigues who rolled a 234, Indias Pride turned an exciting contest into a one-sided affair as it crushed JR 1021-829.

Going to the second game, it was Cozmos turn to feel the heat of Indias pride hot form. As it streaked to an easy 974-832 victory over the entertainment magnates, Indias Pride can now smell the sweet scent of victory after its lead swelled to over 300 pin falls.

And with Indias Pride way ahead of the rest of the field, the remaining four games of the championship round became a mere fight for the runner up position. The victorious keglers from India formally claimed its maiden title by submitting scores of 899, 837, 870 and 976 in the remaining games of the finals for a final tally of 11428 pin falls.

Bowling for Indias Pride in this successful stint were Ulysses Menezes (captain) and also the owner of www.goa-world.com from Bastora, Colin Costa, Nickolas Rodrigues, Josie Ribo, Pedro Fernandes, Sean Fernandes, Sebastian Mascarenhas, Seby DSilva, Sharon Costa and Fatima Sequeira.

JRs Team composed of Jay-R Angeles, Egay Cabildo, Jun Guerra, Bobby Carambas, Edwin De Mesa, Edwin Latoja, Ivan Tomada, Liza Catapia and Jheng Liwayway held on the 1st runner up post after finishing with 11123 pin falls. With five consecutive game victories in the second round and a total score of 10967, the Giant Killers sneaked from behind to finish as second runner up through the efforts of Jun Domingo, Eddie Pena, Cris Carungay, Flor Hernandez, Jun Baker, Danny de Paz, Joe Presenta, Imelda Carungay and Twinkle de la Cruz.

Third runner up honors went to Umoja Sure Strike bannered by Roel Butin, Antony King, Dennis Miniz, Nick Abarquez, Rona Miniz, Eva Sabay, Nasha King, Rudy Valdez and Ariel Abundo.

Fourth runner up was Cozmo with 10586 .And playing for the Ashkanani Placement Agency that finished at the bottom of the table after compiling just 10315 pin falls.

Going to the just concluded masters event of the league, in the Ladies division Josie Ribo of Indias Pride who garnered a 9-game series of 1,600 pin falls, grabbed the title as she out bowled 8 other lady pin busters. In the class C of the mens division, Ulysses Menezes again of Indias Pride brought home the bacon when he nosed out Talal Jalal 1,512-1,510 in an exciting finish. Going to the class B masters competition, another neck-to-neck battle to the wire ensued between Nelson DSouza and Demy Nardo as the two pin busters bowled on even terms up to the penultimate game. With Demy up by 7 pin falls going to the final game, Nelson of India Pinbusters finally overtook Demy as he rolled a 165 to Demys 156 giving him a 1,591-1,589 final count advantage. And finally in class A, Mars Balisi and Mousa Abdullah stood out among the 10 qualifiers but in the end it was Mars Balisis show grabbing the title through his 1,771 total 9-game series score.
