Young Timers battle it out at QuizYT-2004
DUBAI � Young Timers battled it out at QuizYT-2004,
the second annual inter-school quiz competition
organised by Young Times on October 7.
A quiz for senior students of all English medium
schools in the UAE, QuizYT-2004 was held at the Shaikh
Rashid Auditorium, Dubai. Around 75 teams from as many
as 45 schools in the country participated in the quiz
conducted by famous quizmaster, Siddarth Basu,
well-known for the Mastermind Quiz and the University
Challenge telecast on the BBC.
Amidst loud cheer, Mr Basu announced the top six girls
teams which made it to the finals in the girls
category � The Sharjah Indian School, St Joseph's
School Abu Dhabi, Our Own English High School, Abu
Dhabi, The Modern High School, Dubai, Dubai Gem
Private School and Our Own English High School, Al
Ain. Of these, The Sharjah Indian School girls emerged
winners followed by St Josephs School, Abu Dhabi.
Meanwhile, the winners in the boys' team after a tough
battle were boys from Our Own English High School,
Dubai, followed by The Modern High School in the
second place.
QuizYT-2004 was presented by Young Times in
association with Western Union Money Transfer. The
event was co-sponsored by Al Rawabi, Lipton Tea,
Crystal Arc and Jeema Mineral Water, while Indian
Airlines was the official carrier and Coral Deira
Dubai, the official hosts.
Friedrich Albrecht, Manager Coral Deira Dubai, gave
away the coveted Young Times QuizYT Championship
trophy to the boys team, while Mr Sivaji, Promotions
Manager, Al Rawabi, did the honours for the girls
team.
Mr Basu gave away the runners-up trophies. (Khaleej
