The Konkani Catholic Community settled here 400 years ago and it has a rich heritage in terms of religion, history ,language and Culture. It suffered under Tipu Sultan about 200 years ago but against all odds has survived and thrived. Its contribution in the field of Education, Health, and social service is unparalleled.
The community is at present facing a threat of loss of identity and the grim prospects of its History and take inspiration from it and also analyse and asses its strengths and weaknesses in the spiritual, cultural, economic, social, political and service fields and also to chalk out the course of action for a bright and secure future for the community. It has been decided to bring out a Souvenir - "Asmitai"(Identity) on the occasion. There will be also a Future Foundation-Fuddar Pratistthaan that will be instituted to focus on the future concerns of the Community.

We have our own identity.
Our contribution to the growth and development of our land - our vicinity, our country and the entire world, is considerable - specially in the field of Education & Health services.
Our people have survived many a cruel ravages of history. The exodus from Goa and the tragedy of Tippus captivity are etched deep in our collective memory. Yet we have survived and thrived. Survived - physical uprootment, mass migration, religious oppression and cultural suppression.
