"Teen of the Year 2004" title
"Our teens should attain analytical, logical, reasoning and a focusing mind to attain a healthy growth of the country" said Mr. Albert W. D'Souza, Mangaing Director of Printannia Offset limited. He was presiding over the "Teen of the year 2004" national award ceremony organised by the TEENAGER magazine. "Indian Youth Harbingers of Secularism" was the slogan of the award ceremony held on 7th November 2004 at At. Andrews Auditorium, Mumbai.
"If a person accepts all people around him as his brothers and sisters then that is secularism." said Dr. George Kaitholil author of more than 45 books in his welcome address. "Secularism strengthens us, unites us and keeps us peacefully united towards a progressive India." He continued. "Secularism is not against any religion but it is against any kind of discrimination." he clarified.
The 20 finalists who were selected at the national level and participated in the event are Ishu Bhatnagar & Tejaswita Sharma Agra, Caroline Tage & Kuntial Chakraborty Shilong, Ali H. Rizvi, R. Badri Narayan & Varsha Natarajan Chennai, Amaro Fernandes, Swarnlata Singh & Alan Mendonca Goa, Mallimalika Gupta, Nimisha Menon, Abhimanyu Jain and Priya Tauro Mumbai, Saumya Sadanand, Aniket Kulkarni, Celina Antony Pune, Nivedita Basu, Rudrani Chattoraj & Koyel Mitra West Bengal.
Tejaswita Sharma Agra, Priya Tauro Mumbai, Caroline Tage Arunachal Pradesh, Saumya Sadanand Pune and Amaro Fernandes Goa were selected as five participant for the final round.
Amaro Fernandes won the "Teen of the Year 2004" title. Priya Tauro of Mumbai was the runner-up. Caroline Tage Shillong Arunachal Pradesh was the second runner-up.
Superior General Fr. Devassy Anthalathil encouraged the
youth the serve the nation in his address. Fr. Alfonso Elengikal the editior of Teenager magazine gave vote of thanks. There was an attractive folklore performance by Nancy Netto and Troupe. Dagmar Lopez & Gracelet Gracelet gave an ear pleasing violine effect using hack saw. Sameer Gajria beautifully compered the programme.
