AI reroutes West-bound flights to Mumbai
Air India has resheduled West-bound flights through Mumbai, instead of Delhi, because of the fog condition in Delhi winters.

Long haul West-bound flights of Air-India will not operate from Delhi between December 23 and February 4, but from Mumbai, to a fog conditions in Delhi winters, which lead to flight disruptions.

Air-India will operate a daily shuttle service for Delhi passengers between the two cities during the period, the civil aviation ministry said. Passengers will also be provided hotel accommodation in Mumbai if necessary, report agencies.

Indian Airlines will set up a central coordination cell to monitor the fog situation across India, and private airlines were also gearing up to face fog conditions, the ministry said.

Civil Aviation Secretary Ajay Prasad reviewed the preparedness of airlines, airports and other concerned agencies yesterday, to ensure smooth air services even with the advent of fog in the coming months.

The Indian Meteorological Department has been asked to post timely weather forecasts on the websites of the Airports Authority of India and the airlines.
