Panaji, Dec. 9, 2004 (PTI): The horizon overlooking the picturesque shores of Miramar beach here is all set to turn into a kaleidoscope of colours during International Kite Carnival being held here from December 10 to 12.
The event would witness kite flyers from Belgium, Australia, US, UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Singapore, Germany, Australia, France, alongwith Indian participants during the three-day event, according to Ajay Prakash, CEO of Nomads Travels, organisers of the sky show.
"We will have kites in varying designs, colours and conceivable shapes ranging from bees, airplanes, human figures and prehistoric creatures, also things like oriental dragon or Kathakali dancers occupying the skyscape during the show," he said adding, "We would also have Babu Khan, the famous kite maker from Jaipur, flying 200 kites on a single line."
"The event would also display the techniques of kite flying of the East and West. While in the East, the priority is on kite cutting, in the West it involves kite stunts," he said.
The event would prove to be a visual treat with fliers displaying kite buggying, kite ballet and kite surfing, Prakash said adding, "In kite buggying, the flier sits in a three-wheeled buggy, specially designed for the sport and flies a parafoil kite, a soft kite with two lines or four lines, flown from the buggy, steered by the flier's team."
Kite boarding requires both precision and balance and the flier manoeuvres the kite while skating on the ground while in kite surfing, the kite attached to the flier's waist is flown with the flier balancing himself on a surfboard," he said.
