Daiji Dubai, the Forum of Konkani Writers in the U.A.E., has announced details of its 6th annual celebrations - 'Daiji Varshikotsav 2005', which will be held on January 28, 2005 at the Indian Consulate Hall, Dubai.
Special attraction of the event will be 'Kuvallyachi Vaal', a famous comedy by Chafra. Chosen actors from the community will display their acting skills in this high class drama. Hemacharya, one of the pioneer Konkani writers and a prominent stage artist, member of Daiji Dubai Writers' Forum, will direct this play.
The other attractions will include live singing of the traditional 'Manddo' and the performance of 'Dekhni' dance by 'Pokri Pernal' group. There will be a lot more quality Konkani entertainment stuff bundled in this afternoon event, which will start sharp at 4:00 pm and will end at 7.30 pm.
The event will have a stage programme which will have presentation of 'Daiji Sahithya Puroskar' for the year 2005, a prominent Konkani writer who will be honoured by Daiji Dubai with the presentation of 'Daiji Puroskar', a cash of Rs. 50,000 and citation. There will be a felicitation session during this event, which will honour one of the senior Daiji members and highlight his literary career.

Entry to this event is on prior invitations only, which will be made available online for a donation amount of Dhs 15/- for adults and kids alike. This amount will be used for the benefit of Konkani writers. Appreciation awards to Konkani writers will be announced during Daiji Anniversary function.
