Panaji, Feb. 4, 2005: Goa set a new precedent with the swearing in of two deputy chief ministers and two non-legislator ministers on Thursday (February 3, 2005).

Following his swearing in on Wednesday night as the chief minister along with his deputy Philip Neri Rodrigues, Pratapsingh Rane inducted six more ministers in his cabinet yesterday evening.

Governor S C Jamir had installed his government after dismissing the 32-month long BJP-led Manohar Parrikar government, amidst controversy.
Dr Wilfred de Souza, the sole Nationalist Congress Party legislator, was the second deputy chief minister sworn in on Thursday.

The two non-legislator ministers are Pandurang Madkaikar and Isidore Fernandes. They had quit the BJP a week ago, reducing Parrikar government to minority.
The other ministers are Sudin Dhawalikar of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (minister also in the Parrikar government) and two senior Congressmen � Luizinho Faleiro and Dayanand Narvekar.
In view of the induction, Faleiro will resign as the state PCC president. He is flying to Delhi on Friday, to discuss with the high command regarding the replacement.
As the cabinet strength is restricted to 12, Rane said he would induct four more ministers shortly.
