Boyer�s Lifetime Achievement
IT is indeed a great moment for Goans that Manuel Santana Aguiar, popularly known as M Boyer has been honoured with Padma Shree award by the President on the eve of the Republic Day. This exceptional personality on the Konkani stage which captured the hearts of Konkani music lovers needs no introduction. He is a well-known Konkani singer, tiatrist, composer, director who tremendously contributed in enriching Goa�s culture including the tiatrs. He has many songs to his credit, prominent among them are �Ixtagot, Kombi Bokadi ani Major�.
During tiatr performances, his entry on stage was applauded by the young and old alike. His humorous nature always kept the audience on their toes. He penned and directed almost 30 tiatrs, all of which became hit within no time. His tiatr Ekuch Rosto, Xezari Combo, Doxa, Sonvsar Sudharlo were extraordinary presentations which provided social messages besides entertainment. Apart from live performances in Goa, M Boyer has performed in Mumbai and the Gulf.
He is the first tiatrist to win the Sangit Natak Academy award. M Boyer has been contributing to the Konkani stage for last almost 50 years. Following the footsteps of this versatile artiste, budding tiatrists should strive to take Konkani music and tiatr to still greater heights, so that the cultural heritage is strengthened forever. Kudos to this artiste.
