Goa Speaker may suspend Rodrigues

The Speaker of the Goa assembly could disqualify independent MLA and Deputy Chief Minister Rodrigues on Tuesday.
The Supreme Court has already asked the Congress-led government in Goa to reply on February 28 on a petition asking for its appointment to be declared null and void.
But that's also the day the Governor has set for the Pratapsingh Rane government to prove its majority.
"The vested interest comes out. They were given 30 days so that they could pressurise and influence our MLAs. But our MLAs are with us," said Manohar Parrikar, former chief minister, Goa.
Numbers game
The BJP camp, still unhappy with Goa governor SC Jamir's decision has another fear that President's rule might be imposed in the state if the Congress government fails to prove its majority on the floor of the house. The Congress party though is confident.
The Congress continues to try and poach BJP MLAs who have been taken to Jaipur. But the other side can hit back too.
If Rodrigues is suspended by the Speaker, who is a BJP MLA, the BJP will have 18 MLAs and the Congress will be reduced to 17.
