from Sany, Panaji / WWW.DAIJIDUBAI.COM Panaji, Apr. 10, 2005: 'Kerala Samaj Panaji' celebrated their 40th Anniversary day on Saturday at Kala Academy Hall, at Panjim. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest of the programme and well-known writer, Padma Bhushan M T Vasudevan Nair said, "Every Keralite should learn Konkani language. Though Malayalam is the mother tongue, yet, learning a sweet language like Konkani could help Keralites in getting to know the culture and heritage of Goa. A language always maintains the culture and heritage, so one should concentrate on the same." 'Whichever state or place the Keralites go or visit, they should interact with the people with a view to know others' culture and to share native culture and heritage. It forms the unity,' added Nair. 'Kerala Samaj Panaji' organization president Raj Gopalan felicitated Padma Bhushan M T Vasudevan Nair by presenting a shawl. Also the well-known writer and winner of Sahitya Academy Award Damodar Mauzo presented him with flowers, on behalf of Goan writers. School children performed the Bhaartnatyam and Kathak on the occasion. Songs were also presented. The stage was specially decorated with symbolic representations of the culture of Kerala. |
