| Muscat: Enjoyable Evening for Mangalorean children |

Daijiworld News Network / www.daijidubai.com Report by : Jane Ida Pinto Muscat Muscat, April 15: After the tough and rigorous studies for their annual examinations, it was the time for fun and enjoyment for children of Muscat. It was also the time to share the joy and happiness of the festive season of Holy Easter. Mangalorean children living in Muscat had a fun filled evening organized by the Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Ruwi Parish (MCCP - Sts Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi ) on Wednesday April 13, in the Main Parish Hall of Sts Peter and Paul Church - Ruwi. The programme commenced at 8.15 pm. Our own Mangalorean priest of Sts Peter and Paul Church Ruwi and spiritual director of MCCP, Fr Albert D'Silva offered short and devotional prayer seeking heavenly blessings on the function and children. Well-known Konkani writer, Editor of Amchi Mai and spiritual dirctor of Fr Muller's Hospital - Kankanady, Fr Francis D Souza, Mukti Prakash inaguarated the function by cutting decorated cake. Fr Alban Rodrigues - parish priest of Agrar Parish was also the guest of honour. Charismatic leader of MCCP, 'Panglacho Kollo' (Jasmine of Pangla) Henry Martis extended a warm and hearty welcome to all the children. He expressed his joy for the children gathering in large numbers. He also thanked all the MCCP committee members, donors and also the members who were responsible for all the arrangements of programme and the gifts to the children. The programme was named as 'Burgyancho Dis' (Children's Day) which was truly a fun filled evening for the children of all the ages. Games and fun started with forming five groups - namely Yellow, Black, White, Blue and Red. Each group had captain and vice-captain. There were many different types games and entertainment for the children. All the children participated in all the games and entertainment events with great interest and enthusiasm by which they shared the joy and happiness with their friends. There were dance competitions, forming balloon chains and many other interesting games. Two well-known and excellent public speaking personalities were controlling and compering the whole show. The fascinating public speaker of Muscat Nelson D'Silva and the man of multiple talents Suraj Rebello had carried out their part of anchoring the programme with great passion and entertaining the children with their extra-ordinary vocabulary skills and wit. The amazing part of the program was entering the Anda Uncle (Easter or Egg Uncle) into the programme. A giant egg was brought to the hall and with a loud cheer the veteran actor of MCCP A L Monis, the Anda Uncle, broke open the egg and gave a surprise to the children. He was with specially decorated for the event with unique costume, entertained the children with his charming style. Delicious food and snacks were served by the famous Udupi Restaurant (Al Arsalan) of Alwyn D'Souza. It was fun for all the children. Children certainly had great fun and joy. The event was concluded with each child receiving a gift hamper. |
