Goa is a land of sea, sunshine, serene nature and moderately warm climate in winter... the weather is warm and there is plenty of sunshine.
This is what makes Goa the most favoured destination on the itinerary of tourists looking for some surf, sand and sun.
Sun-kissed beaches as well as resplendent marine life is drawing tourists in large numbers to the leisure destination. Not withstanding the scorching heat, most of the tourists are extending their stay, as they want to explore the natural beauty of the coastal area.
Tourists from England, Holland and Russia were seen basking in the sun to get tanned.
"You have beautiful sand and sea. We come here to get sun tanned," Ryan Beasley, a tourist from England, said.
"I just love the feel of the sun on my face and skin. I like the brown colour of people's skin also. So it's very beautiful. That's why (I am here), " said Olcomb, a tourist from Holland.
For the owners of beachside shacks, business is booming this time around.
Vijay, a shack owner, said that there was a jump of 25-30 percent in the number of foreign tourists."This has been a very good season as compared to last two years. I have seen a 25-30 percent rise in the number of tourists," said Vijay.
The tiny triangular land nestled on the west coast of the country is synonymous with its pristine beaches, Portuguese influence and architecture and rich cultural milieu. With its coastline spanning 125 kms, it is little wonder that Goa holidays have come to mean lazing around the scenic beaches at Colva, Calangute, Palolem, Anjuna, Baga and Miramar.
Tourism is the mainstay of the state, where a large number of domestic and foreign tourists throng to have fun and enjoy the beauty of the beaches.
Tourism in the region has received an impetus due to the state government's move to promote the state as an adventure tourism spot, a measure that has been already adopted by the neighbouring island countries, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
The concept would enable the tourists to enjoy various types of water sports like scuba diving, water diving and a glimpse of the corals. (ANI)
