Compensation awarded to Accident Victim

Not so long ago, one of our dear Goan brothers and a Member of Goan Welfare Society - Kuwait (GWS) was knocked down by a speeding car in Adeliya Area -
Kuwait on October 18, 2003, resulting in his instatenous death.
Having accepted the will of God and in fullfillment of the wishes of his wife Ms. Zeferina Fernandes and family members, the mortal remains were sent to Goa for burial through the efforts of his Employer "Al-Ahleia Electrical Co.", relatives, collegues and friends. He is survived by his wife, daughter (Zinia) and son (Brian).
In the hour of their distress Goan Welfare Society - Kuwait offered to render whatever assistance possible to ensure that proper investigation was carried out and claims in accordance with the Insurance Law, benefits were claimed on behalf of the deceased. In pursuance of the committment given to the family members, a case was filed in the Court of Law, through the Embassy of India-Kuwait.
The good news is that a substantial amount by way of compensation has been awarded to the accident victim and payment has been sent to the Heirs which will be disbursed to the Beneficiary by the North Goa Collector as per the Law. This will be surely be a great relief fo the grieved family.
It is the second instance where such a huge compensation has been awarded to a Goan under similar circumnstances. It is important for each one of us to know that the Law protects our Legal Rights, but one needs to understand and exercise the rights to obtain the benefits.
