Panaji July 24: The chaturmas of Shree Vidyadhiraj Teerth Shreepad Vader Swamiji of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagalli Jeevottam Mutt will begin in the precincts of Shree Ramnath Devasthan at Ramnathim, Ponda from July 25, 2005.
A Chaturmas Samiti has been constituted under the aegis of Shree Ramnath Devasthan whose president, Dr Rajan V S Kunkolienkar is also the president of Chaturmas Samiti. The samiti includes prominent members of the Saraswat community including Mr Srinivas Dempo, Mr Mohandas Naik, Mr Shivanand Salgaonkar and others. Chaturmas aims at giving both physical and mental rest to the Swamiji after a hazardous routine round the year. Thousands of pilgrims, devotees and followers of the mutt are expected to visit the temple. The samiti has made elaborate arrangement for the visiting devotees. A souvenir will be brought out at the end of the vrata, which will carry several articles and information pertaining to the community and mutt and a detailed write up on Ramnath Chaturmas. Koti Markandeya Japa will be performed from July 26 to August 18. The Japa is a prayer for the health and longitivity of the Swamiji whose 60th birth anniversary will be observed on August 18. Goans are fortunate to have the Swamiji amidst them on the eventful day. Actually the entire year is being celebrated since Sravan last year throughout the country as Shastyabda celebrations.
The Chaturmas Samiti has also arranged to hold the Shastabdipoorthi Anushthan from August 11 to 18. It will culminate into Shastyabda Porte, Anandtsav on August 18. The Chaturmas Vrata will conclude on September 18 with Mritika Visarjan followed by Digvijayotsav on September 18, will be observed. The day on which Shree Vidyadhiraj Teerth Swamiji assumed the seat of the holy Gurupeethas in 1973 was the auspicious anniversary of the establishment of the Shree Saunsthan Gokarn Partagalli Jeevottam Mutt. The mutt, on the verge of completing five centuries had an unbroken tradition of twenty-two swamijis. Shree Vidyadhiraj Teerth is the 23rd in that uninterrupted lineage.
Immediately on being anointed guruswami, he expressed his resolve to celebrate the punch shatabdi celebrations of the muttÂ’s inception. However, the maiden venture of his illustrious tenure was the renovation of the mutt of the Samsthan in Varanasi. During 1998, the silver jubilee year of his assumption of the gurupeetha, he undertook the rare pilgrimage to Shree Shaila (Damodarkund) and also had an imposing new branch premises for the mutt constructed at Vasco. On Chaitra Shukla Dwiteeya, of the shaka year 1921 (19th March, 1999), the grand premises of the chief mutt at Partagal, renovated and extended in three stages, was ceremonially inaugurated. It would not be an exaggeration to state that the accomplishments of the Swamiji in the last 32 years outweigh all preceding accomplishments since mutt inception.
