Bushka for fame
She has been the cynosure of all eyes when she sings on stage and longs to be amongst the leading singers and win a fame for herself and her family someday. Thats Bushka Bringel from Guirim, Bardez. A student of St Anthonys High School, Monte de Guirim, 16-year-old Bushka has been a regular participant in school concerts and musical shows. Fluent in her delivery of dialogues on stage, she has participated in English plays several times in Delhi and Goa as well.
I was one of the singers in Tomazinho Cardozos tiatr Orth and Sharons Kosle Goenkar Ami and bagged the first prize in both the tiatrs which were staged in All Goa Tiatr Contest organised by Kala Academy, Panjim, she says.
My first appearance on the professional stage was in Menino Marios "Tiatr Devachim Bhurgim", states Bushka.
A very much sought after singer by audio album producers, she has sung in the audio albums Nimano Adeus, Bavarth, Khoro Bavarth, Jesu Xelliank Rakhta, Tin Bhuttam, Ami Tiatrist and Goem Konnachem.
She has also participated in several musical shows all over Goa in the company of her father Young Chico and younger brother Anthony (Jr Chico).
Then who does compose the songs for Bushka?
Really speaking, I sing the songs composed by different composers without advising them to compose on particular themes, she clarifies. When I am given the song I study it thoroughly
and then seek the guidance from my father before I sing it on the stage, she says humbly. She likes to sing preferably fast songs and sentimental too, depending upon the themes, and have sung over 50 of them till date. Does tiatrs and shows come in the way of her studies? No, she replies. I somehow manage with my studies and tiatrs. To tell you the fact I carry along with me my books when I go for tiatrs or shows and I am very careful during my exams, she explains.
Does she get any encouragement from her teachers to participate in tiatrs or shows? Yes, she replies. Not only from my teachers and my school headmaster, but I have greater encouragement from my loving parents too, says Bushka.
According to her "Kanteantlem Ful" by Star of Curtorim is the best tiatr she has acted, in which she also sung her memorable song "Naka-Mummy-Naka". The song was composed by Severin Fernandes which is about a child crying in her mothers womb not to kill her, she says. She
and her younger brother Jr Chico have also been on tour to Kuwait for a musical show in Janurary 2004. Bushka concludes by stating that both her parents have always been a great source of inspiration for her in all her ventures, for whom she is very grateful.
