Raia Welfare Association to Honour 'Sons of the Soil' M Boyer, Faleiro and Others |

The Gamut stars of village Raia, who have won national and international renown and made Raia proud, well-known Tiatrist Padma Shri M Boyer, politician and former MP Eduardo Faleiro, footbal coach Nicholas Fernandes and NFL Championship Player Johny D' Cruz will be felicitated by the 'Raia Welfare Association'' on October 2.
The Association has also decided to felicitate, along with these personalities, some top-ranking students of SSC from Raia schools. Henceforth, every year these felicitation programmes will be held, said Association general secretary Vincy Quadros while addressing the presspersons.
The function will be held in the Panchayat Multipurpose hall, Raia. Goa legislative assembly speaker Fransisco Sardinha will be the chief guest at the function. Also present will be former speaker and writer Tomazinho Cardozo, sarpanch Afra Gomes and Fr Cipriano D' Silva. RWA was founded in year 2003 with an aim to help poor and needy students. By helping some of the Raikars they tried bring to light their hidden talents. Now besides this, the Assocition has also taken keen interest in tackling the worsening problem of garbage in Goa. They will also conduct medical camps to help needy people, Quadros further said.
The Association feels that taking cognition of the artistes and other noted people, the governmnet or any organization for that matter should felicitate them. When an artiste receives such recognition, he would earn back the value of his work contributed in the particular field. |
