One of the campaigns that is gaining momentum in Goa today is Clean Goa Initiative which deals with the garbage disposal, including Plastic. www.goa-world.com/goa/clean/
Plastic material that we use in our daily lives is perhaps the most
harmful thrash because it does not easily break down in nature; thus, it
results into very serious repercussions. Take for instance the recent flooding
in Goa and Bombay. It is believed that plastic was the main cause for
blockage of outlets, the result - unimaginable damage to the environment and
human loss. It is, therefore, of utmost importance that we join hands and
create awareness on problems of plastic and find ways and means to avoid its
spread.
Our tiatrists always alert the Goan public through their songs and
tiatros of any dangers they feel might affect them. The lyrics of the song
below are not antique they are hardly three months old, but I thought this
was a good time to post them on Goan websites because it talks about Plastic
and its disposal, and is related to the on-going campaign in Goa on the
garbage disposal. The song is from the Album SUKNNIM by Bonny & Antonette de
Calangute which was released in Kuwait in August this year. It is
written and sung by the Goan Bond - Alfonso Bond Braganza, who has acted in
several tiatros and sung many songs. Thanks Alfonso for giving us this
meaningful song. We need more Bonds like Alfonso who can compose songs
and promote the word on the ill-effects of Plastic and other material which
is detrimental to our lives:
