An interesting SF series that has this concept (that is humanity and the surprise discovery of a working warp drive) is Stephen Donaldson's "GAP" series. Excellent books. He's a gifted writer. He does a really good job overall of dealing with TL9ish technology, including space battles at relativistic speeds, perceptions as a result, and strategies that would be involved. Plus a rip-roaring good read.
Amazon link to the first of the books. It's a quick, short read (the later books are longer), but it will hook you. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0553295098/qid=1136851462/sr=8-6/ref=pd_bbs_6/103-1647136-8719820?n=507846&s=books&v=glance -vk -------------- Original message -------------- From: "Keith Bernard" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > I was thinking of using it like the Stargates...sure your planet is only at > TL 9, but someone gave you a working Warp drive.
