This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de Onno Meyer, 2007-03-04
General Products AAT2 Amphibious Tracked ATV v1.0 (GURPS Traveller TL7) Copyright 2007 by Onno Meyer The AAT2 is popular on frontier worlds where rivers or lakes are the primary transport routes. Many all-terrain vehicles can float, but the AAT2 is optimized for amphibious operations. The ATV has a cab with ten seats in front, the fuel cell and hydrogen tanks in the center and an open cargo hold with a ramp in the rear. The hydrodynamic hull and two powerful ducted screws allow the ATV to plane at up to 43 knots (under Terran standard conditions). The wide tracks are optimized for swamps or soft river banks – they are less suitable for broken terrain. The fuel cell burns 180 gallons of hydrogen per hour at top speed. A full load of fuel is $300. Subassemblies: Body +5, two Tracks +4. Powertrain: 1,200-kW tracked drivetrain; two 600-kW ducted propellers; 1,200-kW fuel cell; 7,000-kWs advanced battery. Fuel: 3,000 gallons hydrogen (fire 14). Occ: 2 NCS, 8 NS. Cargo: 310 cf open. Fuel tanks are light. Mechanical controls. 12.33 cf empty space. Empty weight is 60,000 lbs. The vehicle uses the design rules from GURPS Vehicles [2nd edition, 3rd printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXi, VXii (the armor volume rule) and the text format from Vehicles Lite. The Traveller background affects the design decisions, not the technology. Next Week: A Vilani troopship using the IW rules. _______________________________________________ GurpsNet-L mailing list <[email protected]> http://mail.sjgames.com/mailman/listinfo/gurpsnet-l
