Ground movement would be 15 to 17 mph. Anything over 20 mph becomes
prohibitive.

Ground movement has to be at least as fast as normal sprinting or the "you just wear it" aspect is lost, and the suit actually holds the wearer back, deviating from the text.

The book dates from a time when there was no such thing as anti-radar stealth, of course. Also, they'd be tracking IFF transponders, not necessarily the suits themselves (they'd have to in heavily build up areas).

This is correct, and described on p.104. (Cheating and locating a squaddy visually instead of by radar beacon on an exercise is what gets Johnny flogged.)
