This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on a website or the like. My site is down for rebuilding, but sooner or later the old stuff should reappear at omeyer.gmxhome.de Onno Meyer, 2009-04-20
Nexa-III-class Light Orbital Transfer Vehicle v1.0 (TL10) Copyright 2009 by Onno Meyer The Nexa III is used as an orbital and deep space transport in thinly settled systems. She was designed as an OTV, without the safety margins for deep space work, but start-up colonies are known to cut corners and to use the little Orbital Transfer Vehicle for trips to the Jump Points in the outer system. The OTV has a roughly box-shaped frame with two decks. The upper deck contains the cargo and a docking airlock, the lower deck holds the life support system, quarters for 12 to 15 people, and the control room. The efficient little fusion rocket provides 49 km/s delta-V with a nominal fuel and cargo load, or more than 100 km/s running light. The engine uses 80 gallons of reaction mass per hour. Subassemblies: Body +6. Powertrain: 4,000-lb. vectored fusion rocket; 250-kW RTG; six 360,000-kWs rechargeable E power cells. Fuel: 2,000 gallons water. Occ: 3 RCS, 12 bunks. Cargo: 2,000 cf.
