I'm trying to figure out populations for different kind of space colonies.
For example how many people in 5mile long Oneill cylinder or how many
people can live in Ceres sized asteroid. Of course this boils down to
self-sufficiency and quality and techlevel of lifesupport.

Has anyone worked out some guidelines or could point out some other
resources on this matter.

There is no computer that "just works". With possible exception of abacus,
but even that requires an user.

I recommend T.A heppenheimers Colonies in Space

http://www.nss.org/settlement/ColoniesInSpace/

it boils down to square meters per person, and how much quality of life can be compressed down how far.

An 8 km Cylinder could hold a LOT of people.
