Bravo por el profe, por lo que leí tiene buena pinta. Veremos como
podemos después pescar el .ISO sin pescar la gripe xq' al menos la que
yo tengo desde hace unas semanas parece que se me ha pasado de libre
distribución a "propietaria" xq' no se va y no se la deseo a nadie.

Caso mas reciente, se le perdió casi todo lo de la Tesis de Maestría,
que una distribución de LINUX ( Puppy Linux 5.2.8 ) logró rescatar
desde adentro del caos windoxero.
Austrumi se ha mantenido vigente , a pesar de que no tiene respaldo
económico visible y sus desarrolladores son de uno de las llamadas
Republicas Balticas... casi nunca logro recordar cual es cual cuando
se ponen sus nombre en ruso... Letonia, Lituania y Estonia...
Latvijas es el nombre de Letonia, donde se origina AUSTRUMI...
Hice una prueba ràpida y salvo que tuve necesidad de acudir al arte de
los encantamientos para ¨descubrir como se cambiaba el idioma¨, una
vez puesta la distro en español, y mas tarde en inglés, me pareció
algo bien logrado, basándose en Slack Ware.
Está mas ¨gordita¨ que PUPPY LINUX Slacko, la distro de PUPPY basada
en Slackware, pero por lo demas corre con soltura y posee una buena
cantidad de programas muy inteligentemente seleccionados por los
desarrolladores para que quienes copien la .iso y quemen el disco de
arrancar, pueden hacer muchísimas cosas sin tener que ir a ningun
repositorio...
El hecho de proporcionar el ESPAÑOL, hace que le gane a PUPPY
ampliamente, pues el que no sepa Inglés BIEN no de Tom is a Boy y Mary
is a girl, está frito con PUPPY LINUX, y el australiano que dirige su
desarrollo no ha entrado en caja con el español .
Si alguien quiere experimentar, tengo la .iso guardada a buen recaudo,
y cuando se me alivie la gripe que me agarró el fin de año, voy a
seguir cacharreando AUSTRUMI LINUX

AUSTRUMI (Austrum Latvijas Linukss) is a bootable live Linux
distribution based on Slackware Linux. It requires limited system
resources and can run on any Intel-compatible system with a CD-ROM
installed. The entire operating system and all of the applications run
from RAM, making AUSTRUMI a fast system and allowing the boot medium
to be removed after the operating system starts.
As you might imagine, Austrumi Linux is not geared toward competing
with Ubuntu, Fedora or any of the larger desktop distributions. Rather
it's all about portability and the ability to maximize utility while
minimizing the actual size of the distribution.

Requirements & Installation
Austrumi requires the following:
* CPU -- Intel-compatible (pentium2 or later);
* RAM -- at least 256 MB (if 256 Mb or less, then run boot: al
nocache);
* HD -- not needed;
* CD-ROM -- bootable CD-ROM drive.
Austrumi is designed to run in RAM so an install is not necessary to
use it. However, you do have the option to install it to a hard disk
or onto a USB device. I mucked around with the hard disk install but
wasn't able to get it to work in VirtualBox. Your mileage may vary,
however, so if you want to play around and see if you can get it
installed, go for it. Please take a moment and share the results in
the comments section below if you do decide to do an install.
Note that you should be sure to choose English while on the boot up
screen if that's the language you want to use while running Austrumi
Linux.
Desktop & Apps

Problems & Headaches
I was not able to get Austrumi to load properly in VMWare, I had to
use VirtualBox instead.
I fiddled with the hard disk install briefly but was not able to get
it to install. No great loss considering that it's really supposed to
run in RAM anyway. But be aware you might have problems if you try to
do a hard disk install.
