Brother tu modem es conexant, para usarlo debes instalar ubuntu 10.10 o
anterior pues ya no hay soporte para eso.
el problema es que el soporte es para kernels 2.6 o anteriores y los nuevos
kernels no dan soporte a conexant

He estado intentando instalar el modem en una laptop Gateway que tiene el
kubuntu 13.04 (kernel ). He ejecutado el scanModem proporcionado en esta
lista y también uno descargado del sitio original cuyo resultado es:

Como pueden leer ya ahí se nota un error de fichero no encontrado, pero
bueno me limito a lo que se me sugiere y descargué del sitio (previo pago
privativo a ETECSA) el driver que se me sugiere, sé que la laptop lo que
posee es un modem conexant, por lo que leo las instrucciones en
Conexant.txt alcance a descargar:
hsfmodem-7.80.02.06full.tar.gz
alsa-driver-linuxant_1.0.23.1_all.deb.zip
hsfmodem_7.80.02.06full_k2.6.31_17_generic_ubuntu_i386.deb.zip
De todos estos el primero se ajusta más a lo recomendado pero para
sorpresa mía al instalarlo obtengo este resultado:

Muchas gracias por toda ayuda que me puedan dar, incluso estoy abierto a
la variante de cambiar de distro, una versión de ubuntu anterior o
cualquier otra cosa por tal de resolver el problema.
