Hello, I can only think of two explanations:

- Perhaps you are running gvSIG on a 64-bit JVM, which means all the DLL 
libraries in gvSIG are unusable, including the ones that access ECW files. It 
has to be a 32-bit JVM. I have gvSIG 1.12 running on Windows 7 (64 bit system) 
using a 32-bit JVM and I can see ECW files correctly. Can you open TIF images, 
for example? That would prove that you are on a 32-bit JVM.

- Perhaps the ECW file you are trying to open is using a "sub-format" that 
gvSIG is not supporting (?). We can try this little  file to be sure:

I can open it correctly. It's an image of the Brazilian rain forest, I think. 
CAn you open it?

Anyone know why the new version of GvSig 1.12 can't open file with extension 
.ecw ?? The only last working version is 1.9.



I'm on a new installation of Windows 7, with Java 1.6.23 and GvSig 1.12, but 
the file .ecw doesn't open with the new version.

It's backward compatible?

Anyone have a procedure to open file? convert file?
