In case this helps anyone, I just wanted to share a bit on the headphones I
broke down and purchased the other day for myself. I had said a while back
that I wasn't going to do this because it is really expensive, but I dragged
out my Bose quiet Comfort headphones which I purchased when they first came
out and shortly after finding out about my hearing problem. I decided I
liked the sound they gave me, but they are so confounded heavy that they are
just miserable.
In my home area, we are blessed to have a Bose Factory Outlet Store, and
after checking a couple of other sources and not finding what would be
comfortable, I did purchase a pair of the Quiet Comfort II headphones. Now
the thing about these is that they are far lighter and just sit on the
outside of the ears. They can be worn with the piece over the head, tilted
at an angle behind the head or even the way I have always said headsets
should be, with the bar under the chin as the old transcription headsets
used to be.
Instead of purchasing brand new, I purchased a refurvished pair which saves
a good $50 or $60 in cost, though what you save gets eaten by taxation, I am
afraid.
The other real plus with these is that the wire which goes from the headset
to the device to which you are listening is the traditional longer variety,
though a reasonable length, but there is also a shorter wire which can be
plugged into the headset and the device when the Book Sense or other device
is worn around the neck. This means that you don't have ten feet of wire
just waiting to get caught on something. This makes it so that I don't feel
quite so badly about not really being sold on the Blue tooth headset which I
will share with a niece or nephew who will love it for something.
Just thought I would share that with you in case it does help anyone. I
personally just couldn't find anything out there that was this comfortable
and since I get headaches and all, I hate things that hold my head too
tightly. If you can get by with something else less expensive, please do go
for it, but I toss this out as one of the possibilities from which to
choose.
