This is a known issue and has been fixed for the next firmware.
Many thanks. On 11/8/2009 7:25 PM, Terra Syslo wrote:
I'm noticing an issue with the volume where when I go from volume 5 to 6 with the speaker there is a huge jump, but it doesn't do it with headphones. I just got my Booksense XT yesterday, and am really loving it so far. As soon as my nls authorization is processed, I will be ready to rock and roll. I have already more or less fully adapted to the diferences between the booksense and the victor, which I was using until yesterday. I do have one comment/question/suggestion, however. It seems that when playing mp3 or audible books, which are all I can play at the moment, the volume of the TTS voice seems to be significantly louder than the volume of the book. This is true with both headphones or the Booksense speaker. I was wondering if this is something that might be addressed in a future firmware revision. I would think that if the TTS voice can be so loud and clear, than the recorded books should also be able to play at that same volume. My only other minor criticism is the sound through headphones seems to be much lower than it was on the victor. Since I only use headphones when I have no other choice, this isn't a huge problem, but it seems that the over-all volume when using headphones, even when raised to maximum volume, is a lot lowerthan it was on the victor, and certainly there isn't the same amount of deep bass that the victor seemed to offer. I've played with the equalizer settings a little, but never heard any significant difference. That is, in fact, when I most notice my first issue: the tts voice being far louder than the recorded material. I'm using some really good quality Sony in-the-ear headphones: sl-71's or something like that. I've used them with cd players and other devices, so know that they're extremely capable when it comes to reproducing low-frequency sound. Anyway, short of the really expensive bose earphones, they're probably some of the better ones out there, and they sounded absolutely brilliant with the victor. So, again, I'm just wondering if perhaps the sound quality of the booksense when using headphones might be able to be further tweaked somehow in a future firmware revision. Over all, though, I absolutely love the booksense, and am very much looking forward to using it. Thank you, GW Micro, for such a wonderful little device.
