Hey, Raul. All I want to know is will I be able to rip a book to cd and have
the booksense go from mp3 to mp3 and be able to set a bookmark when I am
finished reading?
Luckily, I have an mp3 merge utility, but I'd really like to see this work
like it does n the stream.
And I thought we could already move by small increment? I can do this in an
mp3 file with left and right arrow. What is different about the time setting
you are talking about?
Thanks.

Subject: [GW-Booksense] Teasers and other thoughts

Hello. Last Thursday I gave a teaser into the new firmware of the
BookSense. Some on this list see the feature enhancements as
un-necessary because in their view, they are not "bug fixes" and those
are in quotes.

Fie first teaser was the ability to move in short time jumps in nls
books. In the current firmware, the smallest amount one can move in is 1
minute which in my personal opinion is too long. What if you miss a
brief sentence or few words. Moving backwards or forwards by smaller
increments is important. So teaser number 1 is that in the new
soon-to-be-released firmware, you can move inside nls books in short
time increments such as 5 seconds, 10 seconds, 30 seconds, ETC as well
as 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes. Teaser number 2 was given yesterday
and it involves a Bluetooth toggle hot key by pressing number 6 for 2
seconds. This way one does not have to go into the menus to turn
Bluetooth on or off. These two were filed as bug reports and they have
been addressed and fixed. However now that I've sent these out as
teasers, those who don't care about Bluetooth feel that we are not
addressing bugs, even though things we are addressing were reported as
bugs. So one of my prior messages said that bugs can be subjective. For
example, the fact that you can turn Bluetooth on and off is not a bug,
but the ability to have a hot key for it is a feature, yet if that
feature is not there, one can look at as a bug. So that's why I say it's
subjective.

In any case, regardless of whether people see these as bug fixes or
useless feature enhancements, we are planning some nice things for the
firmware which will hopefully satisfy many.

Since people tend to follow the 11/3 rule of satisfaction, I am sure we
will take a lot of heat for the new firmware, but that is ok. We do what
we can to make the products as best as they can be. They will not always
meet everyone's needs, but that is just reality.

In case you or anyone else is wondering what the 11/3 rule of
satisfaction is, read on. Otherwise, the usefulness of this message is
at its end.

The 11/3 rule of satisfaction.

if you visit a restaurant and you receive bad service, bad food, don't
like the price, or are just having a bad day, you will most likely tell
around 11 people how bad the service was or how bad you were treated. On
the other hand, if you go to a restaurant and you absolutely love it and
you think it was the best thing ever, you will probably only tell 3
people about it. This of course does not apply to everyone and does not
single anyone out as we all tend to lean this way. If we feel that
something is not meeting our needs, well by golly gee, we want the world
to know about it. yet when something does meet our needs, then we tend
to be quiet because why talk about something which works the way it should?

If you are still reading this message, just know that we take all posts
on list seriously, even if they are negative criticism. Note that
negative criticism is not intended to mean reporting of bugs. Negative
criticism is the kind of posting which doesn't do anyone any good
because of the way its posted. If well thought out, one can post a
constructive criticism type of message even if the message is to report
a bug or problem.

Many thanks.
