Why isn't there a policy to kick these people who cuss and demean and rudely
dismiss, out of this list?
We can send them all the reminders we want, but we cant and don't control
anybody's foul and bitter moods and consequent posts. What is the incentive for
them to stop the vile stuff and adhere to cordiality and etiquette?
None currently.
so institute a policy where behavior like we saw with those couple of people
earlier will lead to their ban from the list.

Also remember, that there is a thing called internet harassment. I know a
few cases where people have been taken to court for things not all that
different from what some people think they can say on this list about
others. So, I would suggest that what you say on a public list in the
virtual presence of others is open to legal pursuits if any person feels
they are being harassed. So, be very careful here. Let's all show a bit of
maturity and learn to get along with others who may or may not agree with
us.

Hello all. Just a few reminders about list etiquette. if someone sends you a
private message, it's meant as a private message and you really should not
forward a private correspondence to a public list. This is one of the
reasons why we have some of our lists configured so that simply pressing
reply sends the message to the sender. This way if you want to say thanks or
me too, the message goes to that person, and not the list. Quite frankly, I
personally don't care if I am thanked for answering someone's questions. I'm
happy to do it whether I get thanked or not. However if someone wants to
send me a thank you, then it should come to me, not the list.

Another thing, and this should go without saying. if you have a problem with
a person, take up with that person alone and via private email.
Again, if a discussion sparks up about it, it's proper etiquette to keep it
private. Forwarding private messages to a public list is simply airing your
dirty laundry. Quite frankly I want to keep working on the BookSense manual
and when I have to read the list and start feeling like I'm a dad at work as
well as at home, not only is the manual not getting done, but I have to
start thinking of some of you like children. I'd hate to do that because I
like respecting you and would like to treat you and think of you as adults.

Let's remember that the world is not black and white. if the BookSense does
something you like, great, but if it doesn't do it in the way you want,
there is a gray area. So let's all step back and chill for a bit.
And lets' leave our flames to ourselves. But if you really need to get out
some energy, don't take it out on each other, instead, come over and clean
my huge yard.

many thanks.
