When you are using the line in feature it is because you're recording from a device with more output than the microphone setting can handle, thus you are using the microphone jack and not the built in microphone. Hi, Jamie, I agree with you and I found this odd as well. I just assumed that the built-in mic would still work when the BookSense was set to line-in, and I find it a bit of a nuisance having to remember to change the source setting simply in order to make a recording with the built-in mic. Perhaps this could be addressed as part of a future upgrade? I love my BookSense and I find the line-in recording feature very useful.
