You can assign a specific drive letter to a removable drive. This way,

it'll have the same drive letter every time you use it and even when you
move from system to system. I generally do this to SD cards, MP3
players, ..., that I'm going to be accessing a lot, especially from
different systems. Obviously, to avoid collisions, you'll want to use
higher drive letters.

In Windows XP you can do this by highlighting My computer on the desktop
and then going into the context menu with something like shift+F10.
Arrow down to Manage and press enter. Now, use the arrow and tab key
until you get to the removable drive where you want to set a specific
drive letter. It'll be in the Storage tree. Now use the context menu
again, shift+F10 and choose the Change drive letter and paths ... option.

I assume you can do something similar with Vista and 7.

Hello, I've seen this happen on some machines. It's not specific to the
BookSense though as it happens elsewhere to other machines.

 Many thanks.

Hi -- I just discovered something about my booksense -- I plugged it into
the computer to install some nls files and the 2 drives appeared on my
computer -- only they were not adjacent -- I had recently disconnected the
divice at drive letter f:, and drive letter g: was in use. Instead of
picking drivers h: and i: for the booksense flash and memory cards,
booksense drives showed up as f: and h:, therefore not consecutive.
I know this is probably to be expected, but for those who have wondered
about allocation of drive letters, this shows the booksense doesn't make
assumptions of the drive letters being consecutive.
 Happy listening.
