Hi Irwin,

Yes, it is possible to use the BookSense to record materials directly onto
an external USB device. I connected a 4GB SanDisk Cruzer flash drive to my
BookSense XT (running the latest firmware) via the USB adapter that came
with the unit. I long pressed 0 to switch to USB memory stick and then long
pressed the record button to start the recording. The MP3 recording was
saved directly to the USB memory stick in the RECORD folder. Regarding NLS
cartridges, I don't have access to one so I can't verify if they are
compatible with the BookSense. If you can get a NLS cartridge connected to
the BookSense and recognized as a USB memory stick, then in theory it should
work.

Thanks,
Marc Solomon

Subject: [GW-Booksense] Recording on an NLS Type Cartridge

As some of you may know, I edit a magazine called Newsreel.

One of our subscribers is considering buying a digital recorder. She wants
to be able to share recordings on an NLS type cartridge or perhaps a thumb
drive with friends.

Is it possible with the BookSense to record material on either type of
external device?
