I had a similar problem under Vista immediately after the install of WE 7.0
Beta 1. After my first restart after the install, I noticed some strange
behavior, one was that when I tabbed over to the desktop it didn't say
desktop, or it would refer to the desktop as "program manager" which I
thought was odd. I was ready to accept this as a possible new naming scheme
for the desktop on GW Micro's part so I went on and went to download Jeff's
winamp scripts. Right after I installed the Winamp scripts my machine
froze. When I restarted, everything was back to normal. I just chalked it
up to Window-Eyes needed time to settle in after the install, but it's
interesting other people noticed similar types of problems. My problems
were under Vista though.

Subject: Re: Problem with WE7.0 beta 1

I had a similar problem and I don't know why, but I'll tell you how I
resolved it. I couldn't even access everything on my desktop, so I thought
this isn't right and in frustration I did a total reboot. Then I could
access everything but my ISP email wasn't working properly. I lost speech at
one point so I did another reboot. Things kept getting better so whenever I
found something that wasn't working I'd do another reboot. I may have done
half a dozen of them, I'm not sure, but now it's working perfectly. Now I've
been a computer programmer for a number of years so this makes absolutely no
sense to me. I sent a message to support at GWMicro about it when it was
pretty bad and another when I got it working, so they probably think I'm
nuts, but since you've had the same thing, perhaps our systems have
something in common that I'm not aware of that makes this happen. Don't tell
me it doesn't make sense. I already know that. Smile.

I downloaded the WE7.0 beta 1 for my registered and installed WE6.1 and
after installing
WE7.0 beta 1 nothing seems to work right as far as being able to navigate
and access
the desktop, the we control panel or windows explorer as seems as if
something got
corrupted when either downloaded the beta or installing it over WE6.1.
I've uninstalled WE completely and started from a fresh install of WE6.1
then tried
running the WE7.0 beta 1 again which the install goes great; but, once
restart the
computer to complete the installation after logging on to my computer from
the windows
xp pro log on screen things begin to not work right or correctly or like
does with
WE6.1 once the install is completed.
I am running a AMd dual core 64 bit 4200 mhz computer with 2gb ram and a
video 7300LE
256mb video card.
So don't know what to say or do since sounds like everyone else so far are
having
great success with the beta; but, can't seem to get it to work for me on my
computer.
So any suggestions from GW staff would greatly be appreciated on what might
be able
to do to get WE7.0 beta 1 to work.
Thanks.
