This sounds as much as a focus issue as a Beta 7 problem.  The reason I 
say this is that one of my pcs exhibits the same behavior, more or less, 
with 6.1 most of the time upon startup. 
Shut down WE, restart it, and all goes well with that particular pc for 
hours, or days, if it doesn't happen to need rebooting.
