Hi Jeff,
The cable that came with the scanner is a coiled cable with a rj45 plug at one
end and a usb plug at the other. Once the rj45 snaps in to the scanner, I'm
not sure you can disconnect it as you can't get to the rj45 plug to release it.

Some of us got that scanner and had trouble with getting the incorrect cable.
Can you tell me about your cable?
Mine came with the small end that connected to the scanner.
The other end of this coiled cable was twice as big as a usb standard
connection and will not plug into my computer.
