Robert and Raul,
Holding the shift keys together and releasing them simultaneously
doesn't appeared to have made any difference in the speech, but at least
the caps keys are behaving properly now. I remember I did deal with the
sticky keys issue when the problem first started. Sorry I forgot that,
or I might not even have mentioned that issue. It's the tone that isn't
changing. The pitch gets deeper or shriller, for lack of a better
description.
After thinking it over more thoroughly, I remembered I had just
re-installed an eval copy of Text Monkey Pro. It was expired, but I
wanted to get ordering info. It may have been shortly after that and
the shriek of the little animated monkey that goes with the program that
I began to notice problems. Before the program expired I was still
running W/e 6.0.
I have since ordered the program, but can't find any support docs. I'm
thinking perhaps this little monkey which chatters as soon as I launch
the program may be causing the problem. It's in the system tray by
default. I don't need it there, but can't find the preferences to
change it.
Does anyone use this program? If yes, how can I get it out of the
system tray and keep it from starting automatically? I may end up
calling the company for this info, but if anyone thinks I'm on the right
track I'd like to know what you suggest next.
I'm using W/E 6.1 with a Realtek on board sound card on my laptop.
Ouch! I just remember why I prefer hardware synths! <sigh>
