While you're in the window with the progress indicator you wish to turn
off, press control shift windows-key and the letter p and this will
block the progress indicator.
It's a toggle, so if you want the progress indicator on in that window
again just press control shift windows-key p again.
this blocks it only for the window you are in when you press the key
combination.
